Celebrating birthdays in Islam

I can't believe what I'm seeing here, people justifying celebrating Birthdays just to please their own desires.. are you really willing to get punished just for a party, and a cake with candles. 

By the way did you know the whole origin of birthdays comes from a pagan practice? And did you also know that lighting the candles comes from an act of shirk? The Greek used to offer their false moon God a cake with candles which they would light to symbolize the brightness of the moon. 

I am not even going to start with Celebrating the Birthday of the Prophet.. If celebrating Birthdays is following the acts of the Pagans when they committed Shirk... why in the world would you make a celebration for the Prophet 's Birthday when he nor the best of the believers ever even did something similar to this?
May Allah guide us all closer to the straight path..Ameen :)
